More bodice progress...

I have everythig sewn together and now it's down to the handwork on the doublet proper.

I *do* have a question for all you lurkers out there, though -- should I make this outfit as a separate doublet over a petticoat bodies/kirtle, or do I attach a skirt and make this thing a gown?

Yeah, I'm dithering. :-)

OK, the eeeeevile plans are decided upon...

In my last post, I asked for opinions about the feasability of a doublet gown vs. a doublet over a separate kirtle/petticoat bodies.

Well, dithering is not a happy thing for me, so I settled on a compromise: A kirtle of butter yellow linen blend (Actually, it's probably got a hefty bit of rayon in there, but the bolt-end didn't have fabric contents listed, damn them) with hem guards of dark brown corduroy (well, if you squint, it *looks* like cut velvet :-D ). Narrow sleeves of the same corduroy trimmed in olive green grosgrain ribbon.

Doublet-styled overgown of the obnoxious brown background and pink vines/leaves cotton/linen blend (brocade? damask? it's reversible, whatever it is) trimmed in more olive green grosgrain ribbon. Full sleeves of the same damask? brocade? stuff trimmed in either more brown corduroy or green grosgrain ribbon, whichever I have more of.

And I need a hat. :-)

AND I'm insane, cuz I'm going to get this done by Labor Day weekend.
