Work. Lots of work.
Mar. 1st, 2005 07:54 amGreetings from the land of the no-longer-sleep-deprived. (15 hours of sleep straight has a way of making me feel better.)
For those of you who tried to get hold of me Friday through Monday, I was working and had various obligations to honor in the evenings. Which meant that I was going to bed at ten every night instead of seven. Gah...work was work. Nothing really stupendous, unusual, or of interest happened. Sunday evening I spent time with my dad and stepmom, whose birthdays were on the 26th and 25th, respectively. While I'm the only kid of Dad's who lives in town, Boe and I see my folks a lot less that my siblings. We're all just...busy. All the time. So I don't see The Fam very often, and talk on the phone even less. But it was awfully nice to spend time with them, all the same. A very relaxing evening indeed.
Saturday afternoon and evening (I seem to be going backwards, here), Carrie and I put together my Tudor bodice with sleevage. The sleeves are just faboo. I should perhaps explain that my Tudor is slightly earlier in period or slightly lower in social class than Carrie's. Instead of the traditional huge sleeve turnbacks, they're the kind of sleeves seen on the mother in this sketch: http://www.uvm.edu/~hag/sca/tudor/holb-fam.jpg . I'm also interested in the hat that's worn over the wired coif on the same mom. Is it a Tudor bonnet a la Henry VIII? Is it one of the funky elongated berets seen on Mrs. Pemberton? Or should I just make gable hoods for the both of us and forget the whole "hat over coif" thing?
