Kirtle-y goodness
Jun. 26th, 2005 04:22 pmSo like I posted yesterday, my next project is a kirtle for my squire Alianore. It's going to be one of those short-sleeved, round-necked jobbies that I'm planning to fit according to the late and lamented "Cotte Simple" website. (I have no idea why it was taken down, but I miss it. :-()
The kirtle will be self-lined in navy blue fustian, and be spiral-laced in the front so Alianore can get in and out of the thing by herself. Basically, this gives me the chance to try out the fitted gown methods of construction out there, and to teach Alianore medievaloid clothing construction. I'm not sure when Alianore and I can get together to start working on this, but it should be sometime soon.
After this weekend, I'm very tempted to make myself a pair of corded stays with straps to keep my posture decent. I couldn't figure out why my back hurt on Friday until Boe pointed out I was sewing doubled over and hunched...
