Alianore (my squire) and I are more than halfway done with her new kirtle! I'm loaning her a shift for the time being until she makes hers out of a lovely cotton lawn we picked up at Hancock's today.
Alianore's persona's time period is 1465-1485, so she can enjoy the Burgundian styles. We're basing her outfit off of these portraits:

The kirtle is being made and self lined out of hunter green cotton, and we scored the aforementioned cotton lawn and a really reasonable grey wool blend from Hancock's as well. Since at least one of the portraits has a collar and cuff trim of fur or velvet other than black or white, Alianore and I decided to trim her Burgundian overgown in olive green microsuede. Yes, it's dead dinosaur, I know, but it's a start. We decided that we would wait until we had money to dive right in to Court garb.
I also received inspiration for a new outfit suitable for Twelfth Night -- a Venetian outfit. Yeah, I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon...Inspiration came in the form of mauve-y pink duchess satin (polyester, but oh well...). I've always liked this portrait:

But that won't be made until I have at least my transitional kirtle done. I hope.
Oh yeah, and Alianore's coming with me to Chicago!
