Oct. 12th, 2005 08:29 pmBoe and I looked at our canopy post-faire, and we realized that an aluminum framework really wouldn't hold up terribly well under the weight of dry OR wet canvas. So we went back to the drawing board. I've been looking over plans for making one's own tent thanks to teh interweb. We've narrowed the whole shebang down to two options (for ease of putting up, lack of guy lines, and periodicity): A double belled wedge, or Viking. Both seem relatively easy to sew the canvas for, and could potentially be put up by one person (in case Boe ever gets stuck working on an event weekend). They also appear to use a relatively small amount of cloth, and have the least confusing directions (both for tent creation and setup).
Hrm. Double belled wedge or Viking? Must ponder...
