The event was wonderful! We had about twice as many people as usual, including some folks from Cincinnati. We all participated in the gift exchange, and everybody loved their gifts. [livejournal.com profile] femalegamer made me a lovely necklace appropriate for Burgundian or proto-Tudor gowns.

More update later, as [livejournal.com profile] leggy1979 is here so we can start working on her 1520s Italian.

Anyway, the food was amazing as usual, and the rest of the gifts in the gift exchange were lovely. [livejournal.com profile] femalegamer received a vintage-looking steel book-shaped needlecase and embroidery scissors sheath. [livejournal.com profile] leggy1979 got a beginner's spinning kit with drop spindle and wool. Dame Halldora (who made several extra gifts for new folks) is my hero -- she's such a beautiful person. ([livejournal.com profile] maedb, I do believe that when the reign of Sir Pavo and Dame Ashlinn comes to an end, I'll nominate Dame Halldora for Ladyship/Order of the Quill/Golden Spoon. I know that it's kinda random, but it's better out there while I'm thinking of it.)

At any rate, there were quite a few new people there, including a contingent from Cincinnatti who are intereested in starting their own shire. It was awesome.

Wearing earlier period clothing is like wearing one's jammies to an event. Very comfortable indeed, although I did have difficulty with my veil. I think I'll make a smaller veil in order to make things more manageable.

Pictures will be forthcoming, as soon as Halldora emails them to me. :-)
