OK, so snow has been falling since yesterday noonish, right? And my workplace decided to be nice and set folks up in hotel rooms with free shuttle service to and from work, even better. And to sweeten the deal they are offering time-and-a-half and drawings for 10.00 Walmart gift cards every hour on the hour. Sounds too good to be true, right?
Right.
I live only 2 miles away from work and I like to *see* my husband, so I politely turned the offer of a free hotel room down. Well, the time-and-a-half is ONLY for those folks who stayed in the hotel...any single moms, caretakers of the elderly, pet owners, or people with significant others are screwed.
And the Wal-Mart gift cards? Oh, my supervisor stated that 3rd shift didn't qualify, because there "wasn't enough call volume" to justify just handing money out like that. And because drawings are "not part of his job description". Asshat.
The Care center manager stated that all employees who called off last night and today because they can't drive it in the snow are completely excused...but those of us on 3rd shift were advised that there are no excused absences for weather because (magically?) the roads will be clear when we come into work.
Seriously, if they call any level of snow emergency, I'm not going in.
Right.
