I never thought cutting out skirts would be so *stressful*!
Let me explain...this transitional gown made its appearance from 3 7/8 yards each of 45" wide fabric for the outer fabric and lining. My measurements are 48-46-50, with a skirt drop length of 40". Yowza. The fabric was bought off of eBay, and the tag still on the length gave contents (52% wool, 48% poly) and the tag was dated 1974. So obviously I couldn't run out to Hancock's and grab more if things were messed up.
I was sweating bullets in cutting out the skirt, because I didn't have enough fabric to screw up at all. The hem measurement will be pretty modest, about 100" with the gores and such, which should be appropriate for a middle-class garment. But the skirts are cut out now, and the sewing fun (!) can begin.
