Update on fabric 'n schtuff
Jan. 9th, 2005 12:09 pmWeeeeeeeelll, dyeing the linen blend didn't work as well as I had hoped, mostly because the dye I picked up was waaaaaay too light. So I'll try again later. In the meantime, I dug through my stash a bit and found just under 3 yards of a really nice lightweight wool crepe in black. However, as long as I don't tell Boe that the stuff is wool, he'll be all right with the idea of using the fabric for his hose. (Boe is convinced he's allergic to wool. I once made him a brat (short Irish coat) in some lovely soft wool, and he liked it a lot...until I mentioned that it was wool. Then he started complaining that it itched. Hrmph.) The extra wool will be pieced together to make my Transitional gown partlet.
I also went to Hancock's yesterday, and deeply appreciated the sale they were having. I picked up another 4 yards of the blue cloth-of-sort-of-gold for myself, a length of berry colored flannel/chamois in cotton (it was the last on the bolt) for Boe's doublet and sleeves, and five yards of 100% pure dead dinosaur in chocolate-colored faux suede for Boe's short gown. Spent only twenty bucks too. However, I completely forgot to get more hooks and eyes for my Transitional gown. Darn, it means I'll have to go back -- after I hit the ATM, of course ;-) .
Boe's shirt is coming along very well -- I'm about three-quarters of the way done, which is really surprising considering I plan to hand sew everything with this outfit. (I've decided I really need to have another Masterwork A&S win under my belt.)
