Boe and I were pondering the sorry state of our finances yesterday ($50 to make it through two weeks...blurgh) and I went outside to get the mail. Hmmm...letter from my old employer, thought I. Strange, I wonder what they want. So I opened it, and out fell a check for a few hundred bucks. I'd completely forgotten that I had signed up for the stock purchase plan.

But hey, we're not complaining. :-)

So Boe suggested (smart man he is) that I take some of the money and go buy fabric. Gee, when he makes helpful suggestions like that, who am I to argue? ;-) So I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up another half yard of the brown and black striped silk taffeta suitable for gable hood forehead bands. I also saw a fantastic roll of creamy linen with wool embroidery on it, perfect for Jacobean jackets, but the sale price was $64 per yard. So that roll is staying there until the price comes down, dammit.

At that point, I hunted for velveteen and buckram, and found neither. So off I went to JoAnn's. Darn, more fabric molestation, what a pity. Found my buckram there (so I can make hattage for Her Grace and myself) and an incredible deal on linen blends. Navy blue fustian (linen-cotton blend, in non-fibergeek terms) at 50" wide, for $1.99 a yard. I bought the rest of the bolt, nearly eight yards total. Since I bought more of the fustian than I had anticipated, i didn't feel comfortable buying more black velveteen. Besides, after cleaning out and reorganizing The Stash, I found a couple yards of black velveteen for the gable hoods. SO guess what I'll be doing while gaming today? Yep, hoods. Whee!
