Fantasy costuming...
May. 2nd, 2005 07:27 pmscares me. There. I said it. I have Phil's fantasy costume fabrics and stuff, thanks to the $$$ he gave me to get started and now...I'm terrified.
This is only my second commission, and it involves real money (real money being defined as over $50). I couldn't find all the fabrics I orignially had planned, but I managed to come up with a pretty plausible Plan B with the scrummy but synthetic stuff I bought.
Item one: Shirt and pants out of red flannel-backed satin (warm AND comfortable -- looks nice too).
Item two: Modified tux coat with tails type of jacket with of red crushed velvet, trimmed in red Chinese brocade.
Item three: A quilted breastplate of more red Chinese brocade, trimmed in shiny black-and-gold braid.
Item four: Cape of red faux silk, attached to the jacket with frogs and/or clasps.
Yeah. I have to draft patterns for all of this. And there's no time tonight to get started on things, as I need to go to bed for work tomorrow.
