In memoriam
Sep. 11th, 2008 09:14 amSaid the rosary this morning.
Seven years ago today, both Boe and I were unemployed and got a call from a friend to turn on the TV. After spending a couple of hours bawling my eyes out, I went to the Red Cross, saw that they had all the volunteers they needed, and went to church.
After I went to Mass that horrible day, my mother called me. I was shocked -- I wasn't even aware she had gone on a business trip from Ohio to New York City until she called to tell me that she was all right. It turned out that she had gone to NYC on a business trip and had planned to lunch at Windows on the World restaurant that lovely, shining day. Had those planes hit after 11 AM, my mother would have died. Instead, the planes hit earlier, my mom evacuated to New Jersey, and had to listen to me give her grief about not calling to let me know she was going out of town.
The rosary I said was both in memoriam and thanksgiving.
