My potential squire, Megan, and I talked about stuff and made plans to make her my formal squire instead of an informal "mentor-student" relationship. So instead of working on her red belt that way I thought I was going to (bad Sorche!) I picked up some lurvely carnelian beads and a couple of small charms to make her a rosary/paternoster. I think I'll present her with that in addition to her squire's belt. (Explanation: Megan and I are both Catholic, and I think she's interested in joining the Church of Adria to boot. So a non-blessed, but fully functional period rosary will be kind of a cool thing to give her as a little gift.)
She mentioned last night that she loves to embroider daisies (she may embroider the shift we cut out for her) and so I picked up a daisy charm and a scallop shell as a reference to pilgrimage.
The design I have in mind for the paternoster is a straight design with tassels at both ends, with three decades of carnelian with sterling silver gauds. The charms will be randomly placed amongst the beads. I'll see if I can find a picture to reference for this project, in case anyone is confused by what I'm talking about.
ETA: Here's a picture of the rosary I'm using for inspiration: http://paternosters.home.igc.org/99-gallery/02-hedwig/02-hedwig.html
